Texas High Court Voids Ruling Giving City Land To Pipe Co.

Law360, New York (April 5, 2013, 2:55 PM EDT) -- Texas' highest court ruled Friday that a pipe company doesn't have the right to sue the city of Edinburg for starting a drainage project on land the city had purchased, finding a trial court exceeded its power when it awarded the property to the company.

The Texas Supreme Court ruled that a 2004 judgment awarding ownership of the property to API Pipe and Supply LLC is void because it significantly altered a previous judgment awarding ownership to Edinburgh, and said judgments meant to correct earlier rulings,...
