Gerber Clothing Co. Settles Skin Irritant Class Action

Law360, New York (April 8, 2013, 4:56 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Friday gave preliminary approval to a settlement between Gerber Childrenswear LLC and a class of plaintiffs who allege the company didn’t properly disclose that its garments contained a large amount of skin irritants.

The lawsuit, filed in 2009, claims Gerber hid from customers that its clothing contained phthalates, chemicals that can cause skin irritation and, in some instances, cause children to break out in rashes.
