Kanye West, UMG Sued Over 'Gold Digger' Sample

Law360, New York (April 10, 2013, 5:44 PM EDT) -- Kanye West and UMG Recordings Inc. on Friday were hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit in California for the unauthorized sampling of a 1974 recording in several songs, including West's chart-topping "Gold Digger" track.

The lawsuit was brought by family members of the late David Pryor who claim the defendants have repeatedly lifted portions of his song "Bumpin' Bus Stop."
