Court Won't Cancel Antitrust Action Against Nielsen

Law360, New York (January 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has denied a bid by television research company Nielsen Media Research, Inc. to dismiss a case brought by a rival alleging it holds a monopoly over the television ratings industry.

In a ruling Dec. 28, Judge Susan C. Bucklew of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida said a jury should decide whether the rival, erinMedia LLC, would have been prepared to enter the ratings market and if Nielsen's conduct prohibited it from doing so.
