Ex-Soldier Indicted Over Fuel Theft Scheme in Afghanistan

Law360, New York (April 11, 2013, 7:45 PM EDT) -- A former U.S. soldier was indicted over accepting bribes to facilitate the theft of military fuel in Afghanistan, in a scheme that also included an employee of military contractor Fluor Inc., the Department of Justice said Thursday.

Stephanie Charboneau, formerly known as Stephanie Shankel, was charged with money laundering, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, as well as bribery, theft of government property, and conspiracy, Acting Assistant Attorney General Mythili Raman said in a Thursday announcement.
