Amazon Can't Close Book On Sales Automation Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 11, 2013, 10:22 PM EDT) -- Inc. and Newegg Inc. failed Thursday to shake infringement claims by patent-holding company SFA Systems LLC over patents relating to sales automation technology when a Texas federal judge disagreed with the online retailers’ interpretation of the scope of the patents.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis denied the online retailers' motions for summary judgment on certain patent claims, disagreeing with Amazon and Newegg that claims covering the technology necessarily involve the actions of actual salespeople.
