Cigna Sued By Clinic Over Out-Of-Network Coverage

Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 2:26 PM EDT) -- New Jersey outpatient surgery provider NJSR Surgical Center LLC launched a federal suit Wednesday alleging a Cigna Corp. subsidiary wrongfully refused to cover out-of-network services it provided to patients covered by the insurer’s plans.

NJSR claims it called Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. representatives to confirm that the patients had out-of-network benefits for facility outpatient services under their respective insurance plans and each time were told that the patients had such coverage, only for the insurer to subsequently deny the claims NJSR later submitted for services...
