Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 4:22 PM EDT) -- A San Diego man Thursday launched a proposed class action in California federal court accusing Nutramax Laboratories Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Rite Aid Corp. of falsely advertising that glucosamine-chondroitin tablets ease arthritis symptoms, the latest in a wave of lawsuits questioning the supplement’s effectiveness.
Robert Dorfman says he purchased Nutramax’s Cosamin capsules at Wal-Mart and Rite Aid after reading promotional literature from all three companies touting the product’s ability to shield damaged cartilage, but experienced no health benefits.
