Shire Sues Barr, Impax Again Over Adderall Patents

By Erik Larson (October 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Barr Laboratories and Impax Laboratories, both of which are currently involved in litigation with Shire Laboratories over patents for Adderall, have both filed new Abbreviated New Drug Applications for the ADHD drug, prompting another lawsuit.

Shire has filed a lawsuit against Barr and Impax, alleging their proposed generics would infringe one of the patents for Adderall, which arer not set to expire until 2018.

Shire said that this suit will have no bearing over previous litigation between the companies, notably a suit between Shire and the two companies over two other Adderall patents set to go to trial in January 2006....
