McDonald's Deal In Halal Chicken False Ad Row Wins Final OK

Law360, New York (April 17, 2013, 6:19 PM EDT) -- A Michigan state judge on Wednesday approved a disputed $700,000 settlement in a proposed class action accusing McDonald's Corp. of causing Muslim customers to violate religious dietary restrictions by falsely advertising chicken products as halal.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Kathleen Macdonald signed off on the agreement despite objections from many restaurant patrons who said the deal unfairly gave the majority of the funds to two charities while providing no monetary relief to those who were harmed.
