EPA's Critique Casts Fresh Doubt On Keystone XL

Law360, New York (April 23, 2013, 8:33 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday said the State Department hadn't adequately addressed the environmental impacts of TransCanada Corp.'s proposed Keystone XL pipeline, a move attorneys say could delay the department's decision to approve or reject the controversial project and could boost likely legal challenges from pipeline opponents.

The EPA raised several objections to a draft supplemental environmental impact statement the State Department released last month, which concluded the project would have a minimal impact on oil sands development and greenhouse gas emissions.
