Lauryn Hill Gets 3 Months For Ducking $1M In Taxes

Law360, New York (May 6, 2013, 9:08 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Monday sentenced Grammy-winning R&B singer Lauryn Hill to three months in prison for failing to file tax returns and report more than $2.3 million in income, rejecting the prosecution's call for a longer jail term.

Hill pled guilty in June to three counts of failing to make a tax return. While her plea covered tax years 2005, 2006 and 2007 and about $1.8 million in unreported income, Monday's sentence also included Hill's failure to file returns for 2008 and 2009...
