DOD Looks To Trim Fat With New Contractor Review

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 4:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense said Wednesday it was reviewing its acquisition policies, including how it negotiates profits, in an effort to achieve greater efficiency and productivity in the contracting process. 

The initiative, called “Better Buying Power 2.0” aims to apply “common-sense” thinking throughout the DOD in an effort to achieve affordable programs, control costs throughout the lifecycle of a contract and eliminate “unproductive processes and bureaucracy,” according to a memorandum released by Frank Kendall, the undersecretary for acquisition.
