Houston Eyes More Housing Projects With Code Change

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 4:12 PM EDT) -- The Houston City Council on Wednesday approved several changes to the city code meant to encourage developers to build more communities of single-family homes within city limits, allowing for more density and smaller lot sizes.

In two divided votes, the council pushed through several amendments to the city's Chapter 42 development ordinance that have been several years in the making. Proponents hope they will make the city's housing more competitive with other parts of Texas.
