Novartis Faces Another DOJ Suit Over Alleged Kickbacks

Law360, New York (April 26, 2013, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice hit Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. on Friday with allegations in New York federal court that the company defrauded federal health care programs by paying kickbacks to doctors, days after the DOJ sued Novartis over another alleged kickback scheme involving pharmacies.

The DOJ lodged a False Claims Act suit against Novartis, saying the drug company provided illegal kickbacks to induce doctors to prescribe pharmaceutical products that were reimbursed through Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs. The FCA suit marks the second...
