Judge Balks At $3M Settlement in JetBlue Wiretapping Case

Law360, Los Angeles (April 29, 2013, 9:09 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Monday balked at approving a proposed $3.2 million settlement of a class action alleging JetBlue Airways Corp. illegally recorded thousands of calls to customer service agents, saying a provision that precludes class members from making future claims is “incredibly broad.”

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lee Smalley Edmon deferred preliminary approval of the settlement while the parties try to revise the liability release to address her concerns. They should either narrow the scope of the release, she suggested, or delete the waiver...
