Ex-Ford Atty Can Represent Defect Class, Calif. Court Says

Law360, New York (April 26, 2013, 6:47 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court on Thursday reinstated a plaintiff's lawyer who had been disqualified from a defective vehicle class action against Ford Motor Co., finding that his time defending the carmaker against lemon law suits does not prevent him from representing consumers in an unrelated case.

Payam Shahian of Strategic Legal Practices never accessed relevant confidential information as one of Ford's attorneys during his three years at Bowman and Brooke LLP, according to a three-judge panel for the Second Appellate District.
