NYC Mayoral Hopeful’s Cohorts Convicted In Straw Donor Trial

Law360, New York (May 2, 2013, 9:35 PM EDT) -- Two people linked to New York City Comptroller John Liu, a potential successor to the city’s mayor, were found guilty Thursday of involvement in a scheme to funnel illegal donations to his campaign.

A federal jury in Manhattan found Xu Wing “Oliver” Pan, an alleged fundraiser for Liu, and Jia “Jenny” Hou, the candidate's former campaign treasurer, guilty on five of six counts charged in connection with a scheme to circumvent donation limits by spreading out large donations through so-called straw donors.
