Feds Say Atty Billed Seminole Tribe $1M In Bogus Legal Fees

Law360, Miami (May 3, 2013, 5:16 PM EDT) -- A former attorney for the Seminole Tribe of Florida was indicted Friday on charges of fraudulently billing $1 million in legal fees for helping the tribe open radio stations.

In a 10-count indictment, federal prosecutors charged attorney Frank Excel Marley III, 39, of Miramar, Fla., and his office manager Maria Hassun, 66, of Miami, with mail and wire fraud and unjust enrichment for allegedly inflating billable hours and billing the tribe for travel, conferences and meetings that never occurred.
