EU Says Motorola May Have Abused Power In Apple IP Row

Law360, New York (May 6, 2013, 1:05 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog said Monday that Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility appears to have abused its dominant market position when seeking a German sales ban against Apple Inc. based on alleged infringement of essential mobile phone patents.

The European Commission said it has sent Motorola a statement of objections, taking the preliminary view that the company has violated antitrust rules by seeking an injunction against Apple over alleged infringement of standard-essential patents, or SEPs.
