App Designers Lifted Data Transfer Patents, Suits Say

Law360, New York (May 10, 2013, 2:43 PM EDT) -- “Smurfs' Village” developer Capcom USA Inc. and other game makers were sued in Texas federal court Thursday, becoming the latest targets of frequent patent litigator Lodsys Group LLC over allegations that their app games violate two data communication patents.

Lodsys' latest suits accuses Capcom, Activision Blizzard Inc., Halfbrick Studios Pty Ltd., PopCap Games Inc. and TeamLava LLC of flouting the oft-litigated patents and refusing to enter licensing agreements proposed by the patent-licensing company.
