Calif. DOT Hit With Enviro Suit Over $26M Highway Expansion

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 4:38 PM EDT) -- A trio of conservation groups sued the California Department of Transportation in state court Tuesday, contending a $26 million highway-widening project was not given a proper environmental review and will threaten redwoods, salmon communities and more.

Friends of Del Norte, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Environmental Protection Information Center contend that the project will dangerously increase the likelihood of accidents and toxic spills near certain habitats during the winter, when roads ice up.
