Ex-Broker Gets Probation For Muni Bond Bid-Rigging

Law360, Chicago (May 17, 2013, 5:52 PM EDT) -- After cooperating with a sweeping multistate investigation, the former CEO of a New York-based brokerage was sentenced to two years of probation Friday for his role in a municipal bond bid-rigging conspiracy.

Martin Kanefsky, who once headed Kane Capital Strategies Inc., was also fined $30,000 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service at a hearing in New York before U.S. District Judge Robert P. Patterson, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Justice.

The DOJ declined to comment further on the case....
