House Panel Refuses To Fund New Round Of Base Closures

Law360, New York (May 22, 2013, 7:37 PM EDT) -- A House appropriations subcommittee moved Wednesday to ban the Department of Defense from using 2014 funds to close more bases, blocking the Pentagon from saving money by reducing infrastructure it says it no longer needs.

House Armed Services Readiness subcommittee's markup of the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act prohibits the DOD from using 2014 funds "to propose, plan for, or execute an additional Base Closure and Realignment round."
