Law360, New York (May 28, 2013, 11:57 AM EDT) -- Fee awards to plaintiffs’ attorneys often form a sizable component of any judgment or settlement in securities class actions, derivative lawsuits and mergers and acquisitions objection litigation. According to a recent NERA Economic Consulting study, in 2012, plaintiffs’ attorneys obtained nearly $653 million through settlements of federal securities and M&A objection litigation alone.[1]
