Skin Cancer Center Settles Whistleblowers' FCA Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (May 29, 2013, 6:35 PM EDT) -- A Georgia-based dermatology center agreed Tuesday to pay $600,000 to resolve allegations by a pair of whistleblowers under the False Claims Act that the center submitted fraudulent charges to federal health care programs.

The consent judgment entered before a federal court judge Tuesday resolved the case brought against the Dermatology & Skin Cancer Prevention Center by two of its employees, Hildegarde Summerour and Vicki Cox. Summerour and Cox are entitled to 30 percent of the settlement sum, according to one of the plaintiffs' attorneys.
