Carlyle Snaps Up Stakes In Chinese Mall Duo

Law360, New York (May 29, 2013, 1:47 PM EDT) -- With Asia's retail markets booming, a unit of The Carlyle Group LP has snapped up a sizable stake in two Chinese malls owned and operated by SZITIC Commercial Property Co. Ltd., the private equity firm said Wednesday.

Per the deal, Carlyle Asia Real Estate will take a 49 percent stake in regional shopping centers Suzhou In-City Mall and Hangzhou Gudun In-City Mall, which SCP will continue to operate, according to a statement.
