$29M Ecolab OT Settlement Brushed Off

Law360, Los Angeles (May 30, 2013, 3:15 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge Thursday denied preliminary approval of a $29 million settlement in a class action claiming Ecolab Inc. improperly denied overtime pay to hundreds of exterminators, ruling the parties must better explain why the class representatives deserve incentive payments.

At a hearing, U.S. District Judge Fernando M. Olguin said the parties need to provide evidence by way of declaration explaining the time, risks and burdens endured by class representatives Doug Ladore and Antonio Carbajal, and how they helped counsel during the case.
