Motorola Hit With IP Suit Over Video Technology

Law360, New York (May 31, 2013, 2:53 PM EDT) -- Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility LLC and a company that recently acquired Motorola's line of home entertainment products were hit Thursday in Illinois federal court with a suit alleging that they infringed five patents for streaming-video technology held by Texas-based Video Streaming Solutions LLC.

Motorola and Arris Group Inc. are accused of unauthorized use of Video Streaming's methods and devices for transcoding and decoding television and video bitstreams broadcast into homes and businesses — patents that were all previously assigned to units of Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V....
