Lions Gate Accused Of 'Twilight' Monopoly

Law360, Los Angeles (May 30, 2013, 5:19 PM EDT) -- Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. was hit with a $500 million antitrust lawsuit in New York federal court Tuesday, accused of using its copyrights to squelch already limited "fair use zones" for independent filmmakers, parodists and other artists who create derivative works from its “Twilight” series.

Between the Lines Productions LLC, a Los Angeles-based company, alleges in a 219-page complaint filed in the Southern District of New York, that Lions Gate and its Summit Entertainment LLC unit engaged in “ridiculous-to-insane overreaches of intellectual property law.”
