$4.5B LAX Renovation Sparks Trio Of Lawsuits

Law360, New York (May 31, 2013, 2:17 PM EDT) -- Several California cities and others slapped Los Angeles on Thursday with three suits in state court opposing plans for a $4.5 billion renovation project at Los Angeles International Airport, alleging that the city failed to analyze the environmental impact of moving one of the airport's runways closer to nearby cities.

At the center of these suits is the controversial plan to move LAX's northernmost runway 260 feet closer to Westchester, Inglewood and other cities, allegedly increasing their already burdensome coexistence with noise, pollution and traffic, according...
