Big Employers Accused Of Sex Bias In ACA Complaints

Law360, New York (June 4, 2013, 6:37 PM EDT) -- A women's advocacy group lodged formal complaints on Tuesday against five institutions that don't provide pregnancy coverage in health insurance for employees’ dependent children — the first such complaints filed under the Affordable Care Act, according to the group. 

The National Women’s Law Center filed the sex discrimination complaints with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights, claiming that the exclusion of maternity benefits from dependents' coverage runs afoul of the health care reform law.
