Fairfax Wants SAC Added Back To $8B Stock Scheme Suit

Law360, New York (June 4, 2013, 10:07 PM EDT) -- Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. on Friday asked a New Jersey appeals court to reattach SAC Capital Advisors LP and four other hedge funds to a suit claiming that a conspiracy to defame the insurer drove its stock down and cost it an estimated $8 billion.

According to its brief, Fairfax wants the Superior Court of New Jersey’s Appellate Division to reverse a trial court judge’s order to sever SAC, a Stamford, Conn.-based hedge fund, from a suit alleging Fairfax and subsidiary Crum & Forster Holdings Corp....
