NLRB Nixes Red Cross Rule On Worker Confidentiality

Law360, New York (June 5, 2013, 4:15 PM EDT) -- A National Labor Relations Board judge ruled Tuesday that an American Red Cross unit policy barring workers from disclosing confidential information, despite including a disclaimer, violated federal labor law but held that a policy restricting the use of the Red Cross trademark was lawful.

Local 75 of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union claimed that a variety of rules and policies maintained by American Red Cross Blood Services, Western Lake Erie Region, ran afoul of the National Labor Relations Act.
