EEOC Sues Freezer Co. For Rejecting Applicant With Cancer

Law360, New York (June 6, 2013, 3:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission launched a lawsuit Wednesday accusing cold-storage company Professional Freezing Services LLC of refusing to hire an applicant for a warehouse manager position because he had prostate cancer.

The agency says its investigation showed that applicant William Harvel was qualified for the position but that the company had ceased moving forward with the hiring process after it learned of his diagnosis.
