Milberg Weiss Moves To Shed Conspiracy Charges

Law360, New York (January 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Embattled Milberg Weiss LLP has fired off a series of motions to toss out charges from a criminal indictment accusing the firm and several of its lawyers of a multimillion-dollar conspiracy to pay illegal kickbacks to lead class action plaintiffs.

Joined in its bid by founding partner and co-defendant Melvyn Weiss, the firm has asked the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to dismiss from the government's second superseding indictment multiple allegations, including those of conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
