Antitrust Claims Nixed In CatchPlay Film Licensing Dispute

Law360, Los Angeles (June 10, 2013, 2:07 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge Monday trimmed Studio Solutions Group Inc.'s cross-complaint alleging film distributor CatchPlay Inc. conspired with other companies to block showings of its films in Taiwan, ruling that the film buyer's antitrust pleadings were implausible and also were “conclusions masquerading as factual allegations.”

At a hearing, U.S. District Judge George H. Wu said SSG's claims alleging violations of federal antitrust laws were “not sufficient in terms of the basic factual pleading that is required.”
