Google's $1B Waze Buy An Antitrust Threat: Consumer Group

Law360, New York (June 12, 2013, 7:49 PM EDT) -- A consumer advocacy group on Wednesday called for federal antitrust regulators in the U.S. to block Google Inc.'s purchase of Israeli mapping startup Waze Inc., just a day after the online search giant announced the reported $1 billion deal.

Consumer Watchdog, a public interest group that describes itself as an advocate for consumers, sent letters separately to the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission, urging whichever agency reviews the deal to step in and prevent Google from acquiring Waze on antitrust grounds.
