Paramount Scores Sweet Win In 'La Dolce Vita' Rights Row

By Raphael Pope-Sussman (June 13, 2013, 6:45 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday ruled that Paramount Pictures Corp. owned the U.S. rights to Federico Fellini's iconic film "La Dolce Vita" while finding that a production company infringed Paramount's copyrights by licensing the film in the U.S.

U.S. District Judge S. James Otero found that Viacom Inc. unit Paramount and affiliate Melange Pictures LLC had proven they hold the US rights to "La Dolce Vita" through evidence of their chain of title for the film. Oter also found that the production company, International Media Films Inc., had engaged in contributory infringement by licensing the film's rights in the US....
