DOD Continues Outreach On Counterfeit Parts Rules

Law360, New York (June 13, 2013, 6:02 PM EDT) -- The Department of Defense is continuing its outreach to industry on new rules aimed at eliminating counterfeit electronic parts from its contractor supply chain, announcing a public meeting in late June to discuss the recently proposed rule.

The DOD issued a proposed rule on May 16 that would partially implement a provision in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, which required the Pentagon to eliminate counterfeit electronics — which pose a higher risk of failure, espionage and sabotage — from its supply chain.
