Retired Police Say Fla. Shirked Pension Payment Increase

Law360, New York (June 13, 2013, 9:43 PM EDT) -- The city of Coral Gables, Fla., was hit with a proposed class action Wednesday by two retired city police officers and others in the city pension system who claim it unfairly withheld a cost-of-living increase that was due to start in January.

The retirees say that when the Coral Gables City Commission denied a cost-of-living increase that would have been effective Jan. 1, the city breached its contract with them, since the city retirement system had already determined that the cost of living increase was appropriate....
