Rocker Joan Jett Sues Hot Topic Over 'Blackheart' Mark

Law360, New York (June 14, 2013, 6:56 PM EDT) -- Rock singer Joan Jett's Blackheart Records Group Inc. on Wednesday sued Hot Topic Inc. in New York, alleging the clothing retailers' brand of rock-inspired woman's lingerie infringes her company's trademarks.

Jett's lawsuit alleges Hot Topic is selling apparel under its own brand, Blackheart Clothing Co. LLC. Apparel from Blackheart Clothing is likely to “cause confusion and decisive customers,” who are likely to believe it is associated with Jett's record company, according to the complaint.
