EPA Touts Development Methods To Curb Enviro Troubles

Law360, New York (June 17, 2013, 7:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday backed a range of development strategies, including encouraging increased population density, mixed-use development and biker-friendly neighborhoods, as ways to combat environmental problems tied to inefficient land use and transportation plans.

Updating its 2001 report on interactions among land use, transportation and environmental quality, the EPA said in a technical review document that changes must be made to help stem troubling environmental trends, including high levels of vehicle emissions and polluted rivers and streams from stormwater runoff.
