NYC Panel Rejects Midtown East Rezoning Plan

Law360, New York (June 17, 2013, 7:21 PM EDT) -- A New York City community board on Thursday rejected a proposal to rezone Manhattan's Midtown East neighborhood, reversing progress made this spring by the New York City Department of City Planning toward a revitalization plan championed by the mayor.

Community Board 5 criticized the plan, particularly questioning the Bloomberg administration's proposal of selling "air rights" at landmarked buildings to spur development of a competitive district of commercial towers.
