Ex-Chicago Official, Others Convicted In Bribery Conspiracy

Law360, Chicago (June 17, 2013, 6:06 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal jury on Monday found a former Chicago alderman and two employees of a prescription medication provider guilty of conspiring to bribe a person they allegedly believed was a public official in order to score business from the Los Angeles County hospital system.

Former alderman Ambrosio Medrano, 59, one-time Sav-Rx President James Barta, 71, and former Sav-Rx employee Gustavo Buenrostro, 50, were convicted following a two-week trial of a single count of conspiracy to commit bribery. That charge carries a maximum sentence of five...
