Pa. Lawmaker Seeks To Toughen Demolition Standards

Law360, New York (June 20, 2013, 7:38 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania lawmaker said Thursday that he intends to introduce legislation that will improve safety standards and better regulate the demolition industry in the wake of the June 5 collapse of a four-story building in Philadelphia that killed six people.

State Rep. Bill Keller, D-Philadelphia, said he plans to introduce a bill amending the Uniform Construction Code to toughen the safety standards for commercial building demolitions and to establish more stringent oversight of the industry by building code officials.
