$100M Microsoft Bond In IP Case Should Stay, Motorola Says

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 5:45 PM EDT) -- Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. urged a federal judge Thursday to reject Microsoft Corp.'s request to release a $100 million bond it has been ordered to post in the standard-essential patent licensing dispute between the companies, saying Microsoft has failed to explain its request.

While Microsoft told U.S. District Judge James Robart on Tuesday that the bond is no longer necessary in light of his recent ruling setting a royalty rate for Motorola's patents, the Google Inc. unit said the request is "premature."
