Class Claims Gutted From Sandy Basement Coverage Suit

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 3:34 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Thursday signed off on a stipulation that for now tosses class action allegations in a lawsuit accusing a slew of insurers of wrongly rejecting flood victims' insurance claims following Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy, leaving one insurer to face individual claims.

U.S. District Judge Esther Salas dismissed the class action claims without prejudice, freeing State Farm Fire & Casualty Co., Hartford Fire Insurance Co., Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co., and five other carriers from the litigation.
