Financial Co. Is Lawyers' "Puppetmaster": Debtors

Law360, New York (January 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A bankrupt couple has filed a putative class action against Fidelity National Information Services Inc., accusing the financial data processing company of being the “secret puppetmaster” of creditors' attorneys in bankruptcy cases.

The complaint was brought by Chapter 13 debtors Ernest and Mattie Harris, a couple who claimed Houston, Texas-based law firm Mann & Stevens PC paid Fidelity a portion of attorneys' fees earned in the case to represent a mortgage-servicing company against the homeowners.
