High Court To Review Mass. Abortion Clinic Buffer Zone

Law360, Washington (June 24, 2013, 12:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to hear a challenge against a Massachusetts statute that created a 35-foot "buffer zone" around abortion clinics, which protestors claim violates their free speech rights.

Although the First Circuit upheld the law in January, saying it adequately balanced the free speech rights of protestors with the rights of abortion clinic employees and patrons, the seven petitioners claim the exclusion zones are overly broad.
